Mama Evelyn Baker, a Jewel in the Master’s crown
That’s what you are.
Obedient to God’s call
That’s what you did.
Selflessly with your beloved Earl,
You left the shores of your native land for a land so far away.
Into the unknown, you plunged without fear
Knowing Jesus was leading the way.
You landed in a country unlike your own
And graced a small town called “Jangay” with your presence.
You reached into yourself and poured out love,
To children, you may never see in the land of the living.
With your beloved Earl you became the Master’s hand;
you planned their future as if they were your own.
You built a home, a church, a school, but most of all,
You showed them the road to Eternal Life.
Those children whom you served so well,
Are here to bid you farewell, as you embark on your final journey home
Your destination is no longer unknown, but very certain.
Your Master welcomes you with open arms; We can hear the Angels echo as the Master states,
Welcome home, Evelyn; thou good and faithful servant.
The children of Centennial School, yesterday, today and forever say,
Rest in Peace Mama Baker, as we fondly call you,
We have no doubt,
You are now a Jewel in the Master’s Crown.
